The Boulder Junction Sugar Bush is nestled on a small parcel of land, just north of Boulder Junction, in Vilas County.  This pristine area of natural maple trees, untouched watersheds, and rolling hills provides some of the most natural environments to produce Maple Syrup.

Our crew takes pride in protecting the environment, sustainable farming, and preserving the area that produces this natural sweetener.  Each spring we harvest gallons of maple sap using traditional methods and concentrate the sap into maple syrup over a wood fire from natural wood fuel sources, much of what is gathered from our very own forest.  In an effort to be as efficient as possible and responsibly utilize our firewood, we also utilize reverse osmosis to remove a large portion of the water from the maple sap, significantly reducing our boiling time and wood consumption.  Once all moisture is removed and we have fresh maple syrup, we filter any other impurities out of the maple syrup using a pneumatic filter press and diatomaceous earth.

To finish out the process, we store the syrup in glass bottles ready to sell or 15-gallon kegs at precise temperatures to preserve the maple syrup until it’s ready for use.  Our operation remains small with under 500 taps as our crew wants to focus on producing some of the best quality maple syrup available with direct sales to our customers and local Boulder Junction businesses.  Together we are building a community which appreciates what our lands of northern Wisconsin have to offer.
